MOPAR Unleashes the Most Customizable Truck Ever

By Cherise Threewitt, Contributor, Car-ED.com | Feb 2018

The MOPAR performance brand may be most closely associated with Dodge, but the Ram truck family has made it clear that it wants and will get a piece of that action. Ram unveiled the redesigned 1500 pickup in January at the Detroit Auto Show, but came to Chicago with even more to show off. The MOPAR line was the highlight of the brand’s presentation at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show. The Ram 1500 has the highest customer loyalty in the 1500 segment, beating out heavyweights like the Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado.

What is this vehicle?

The 2019 Ram 1500 Big Horn Sport 4×4 truck unveiled at the launch was finished in flame Red paint and customized with an outdoor enthusiast in mind. This model showed off the all-new Ram Rack adjustable storage system, designed specifically for cargo that doesn’t fit in the bed. In this case, two kayaks were secured to the rack, with the front ends strapped over the cab and the backs supported above the bed. This design leaves the bed open for more storage, and enables users to stand in the bed to secure and retrieve items on the rack. This item isn’t available yet, but MOPAR says it is on the way soon.

The 1500 also showed off the available 2-inch lift kit, MOPAR running boards, which are coated in the same material as spray-on bedliner for improved traction, a color-coded beadlock-capable wheel design with 35-inch tires, and black off-road fender flares. Black Ram graphics stand out against the bright red paint. The Ram Airflow cold-air intake is designed to fit under the Ram’s factory hood and complements the stainless steel MOPAR exhaust system, which exits with dual 5-inch tips. The cab features black leather Katzkin seats with red contrast stitching and red logo embroidery. Bucket-style floor mats keep the cab’s carpet free of debris.

Who is this vehicle for?

This accessories lineup is for buyers of the new Ram 1500, and should also be checked out by potential buyers who are cross-shopping full-size pickup trucks.

Why is this vehicle important to you, the buyer?

The MOPAR accessories help contribute to the Ram brand’s distinct identity. At launch, there was a catalog of more than 200 parts available. The lineup includes all-new parts alongside those that have been redesigned to fit the new Ram, and it’s the largest manufacturer-backed range of accessories on the market. It really gives you the biggest customization possible as a truck buyer/owner.

These parts can be selected at the dealership and installed before taking delivery of a new Ram truck. When MOPAR accessories are installed before delivery, the cost of the parts is itemized on the vehicle’s window sticker and can be included in the vehicle’s financing. All accessories carry a factory warranty and performance parts do not interfere with the vehicle’s factory warranty.

It really looks like there is something for everyone, and it’s easy to skip by options that might not suit a particular taste or style. We suspect some of the pricing will be on the steep side, but pickup truck buyers are accustomed to paying higher prices for specific options and features.
